Three people were killed in a gunfight between two rival regional groups in Khagrachhari’s Panchhari upazila on Monday, police said.

Panchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ferdous Wahid confirmed the incident in the afternoon.

According to police, the clash took place in Madhu Mangal Para under Chengi Union, reportedly over territorial dominance between the two rival factions. Three people were killed in the exchange of gunfire.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately, the OC said.

Police have been dispatched to the scene to recover the bodies. However, the recovery operation is taking time as the area is difficult to access.

No statement from the regional groups involved was immediately available.
