The inaugural ceremony and first lesson session of the Alim programme at Darul Irfan Madrasa, a traditional Islamic educational institution in Chattogram, was held recently.

The programme was chaired by the madrasa’s Principal Mohammad Kefayet Ullah and conducted by Mawlana Nizam Uddin.

Professor Dr Mawlana A.K.M. Abdul Quader, former chairman of the Department of Arabic at the University of Chittagong and former principal of Chunti Hakimia Kamil Madrasa, attended the event as the chief guest and delivered the first lesson to the Alim students.

Professor Dr Mohammad Enamul Haque, secretary of the Darul Irfan Trust, Mawlana Momtazur Rahman, finance secretary of the trust, and Faisal Mohammad Yunus, a member of the trust, spoke as special guests.

Among others, Nurul Islam, chief coordinator of the Writers Academy; Alhaj Noor Mohammad, assistant secretary of the Darul Irfan Trust; Abdullah Al Noman; Vice Principal Hasina Yasmin; Shift In-charge Mawlana Abdullah Al Mamun; Naima Amin; and teachers of the institution were present.

Delivering the inaugural lesson from Surah An-Nisa of the Holy Quran, Professor Dr Mawlana A.K.M. Abdul Quader said the Quran contains knowledge and guidance relevant to the past, present and future. He said the verses of the Quran are interconnected and provide guidance and solutions to the challenges faced by people in every era.

He also highlighted the significance of Surah An-Nisa in discussing creation and the rights and dignity of women. He said acquiring knowledge from the Quran and Hadith is essential for preserving that dignity.

The chief guest said the introduction of the Alim programme at Darul Irfan Madrasa had opened an important avenue for students to acquire deeper knowledge of the Quran and Hadith.

As part of the programme, the institution presented each student with a copy of Mishkat al-Masabih, a renowned collection of Hadith.

Members of the Al Irfan Shilpi Goshthi also presented cultural performances at the event.

The programme concluded with a dua and munajat led by Principal Mohammad Kefayet Ullah.
