“Be Generous in Appreciation, Restrained in Criticism, and Uphold Commitment in Service” – Lion Md. Abu Bakkar Siddiquee PMJF

The Lions Club of Chittagong Imperial City officially inaugurated its activities for the 2026–2027 Lions Service Year by holding its First General Meeting on Tuesday evening, where district leaders called on members to strengthen humanitarian service through unity, compassion and commitment.

The meeting was held at the Prokriti Hall of the Chattogram Lions Foundation and brought together club leaders, district officials and members to outline priorities for the new service year while reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to community welfare.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Lion Md. Abu Bakkar Siddiquee PMJF, First Vice District Governor of Lions District 315B4 Bangladesh, urged members to remain united in serving humanity.

He encouraged Lions members to be generous in appreciating one another, restrained in criticism and unwavering in fulfilling their commitment to humanitarian service. He also stressed the importance of standing beside flood-affected families and vulnerable communities still recovering from recent natural disasters.

The meeting was chaired by Lion Md. Jamal Hossain, President of the Lions Club of Chittagong Imperial City, while Lion Mohammad Zillur Rahman MJF, Cabinet Treasurer of Lions District 315B4 Bangladesh, attended as the special guest.

The programme was conducted by Club Secretary Lion Muhammad Obidur Rahman. It began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Club Treasurer Lion Mawlana Muhammad Mizanul Karim, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Joint Treasurer Lion Mohammad Abu Hanif Liton.

Leaders Emphasise Unity in Humanitarian Service

At the beginning of the programme, the club’s past presidents welcomed the district leaders with floral bouquets.

A highlight of the evening was the official unveiling of the commemorative logo marking the 30th anniversary of the Lions Club of Chittagong Imperial City, unveiled by Chief Guest Lion Md. Abu Bakkar Siddiquee PMJF.

Delivering the welcome address, Club Director and Past President Lion Monjurul Ahsan Babul expressed optimism that the new service year would strengthen the club’s humanitarian activities and community engagement.

Special Guest Lion Mohammad Zillur Rahman MJF said Lions members should continue expanding charitable programmes through stronger teamwork, active participation and dedicated leadership.

Members Discuss Future Projects

The business session followed the approved agenda, focusing on membership development, humanitarian initiatives, youth engagement and upcoming service projects.

Constructive recommendations were shared by Club Directors, office-bearers and senior members, including Lion Dr. Abdullah Al Harun MJF, Lion Mohammad Ali Chowdhury, Lion Mohammad Elias MJF, Lion Musleh Uddin Monsur, Lion Nurul Arshad Chowdhury, Lion Md. Asif Uddin Bhuiyan, Lion Mohammad Abdul Matin, journalist Lion Kashem Shah, Lion Shahtab Uddin Ahmed Riku, Lion Jahedul Alam Sakib, Lion Mohammad Abu Raihan, Lion Muradul Haque, Lion Arsel Azim Mohan, Lion Saifuddin Ahmed Saki and Lion Shafiul Azam Ninoy.

Among those present were Senior Lion Tarek Kamal, Leo Club President Leo Minhaj Uddin, Advocate Joynal Abedin, Sirajul Islam Ripon, Omar Haider and Leo Al Faysal, alongside other members and guests.

President Urges Active Participation

In his closing remarks, Club President Lion Md. Jamal Hossain encouraged every member to actively participate in humanitarian programmes throughout the service year.

He also urged members to complete their registration and attend the upcoming Lions District Cabinet Meeting scheduled for August 8, 2026.

The president further called on all members to work collectively in implementing the district service theme, “Commitment,” announced by Lion Md. Kamruzzaman Liton MJF, District Governor of Lions District 315B4 Bangladesh.

The meeting concluded with renewed pledges from members to strengthen community service initiatives and expand humanitarian assistance across Chattogram and beyond during the 2026–2027 Lions Service Year.
