BNP Leader Officially Sworn In as Member of Parliament After Resolution of Legal Proceedings

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Sarwar Alamgir officially took oath as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Chattogram-2 (Fatikchhari) on Wednesday, marking the formal beginning of his parliamentary responsibilities after the completion of legal proceedings related to his election.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament), where Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected lawmaker.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with senior government officials, members of parliament, and invited guests.

Sarwar Alamgir secured victory in the Chattogram-2 parliamentary constituency in the national election. However, his swearing-in was delayed due to legal proceedings concerning his election. Following the resolution of those matters, the necessary constitutional formalities were completed, allowing him to officially assume office as a Member of Parliament.

With the oath now administered, Sarwar Alamgir is expected to begin participating in parliamentary proceedings and carry out his legislative responsibilities on behalf of the people of Fatikchhari, one of Chattogram’s important constituencies.

The oath signifies the constitutional commencement of his tenure in Parliament. As an elected representative, he will take part in debates, legislative processes, committee activities, and constituency development initiatives.

Supporters from the constituency welcomed the completion of the swearing-in process, expressing hope that development projects and public services in Fatikchhari will receive greater attention through active parliamentary representation.

Political observers note that the completion of the oath also fills the parliamentary representation for Chattogram-2, enabling the constituency to have full participation in national legislative affairs.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted in accordance with the constitutional provisions governing the assumption of office by Members of Parliament.
