Chattogram, (CTG Mail): Newly appointed Administrator of the Chattogram Zila Parishad, Md. Mahbuber Rahman Samim, has pledged to ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance in the district council, declaring that there will be no compromise with corruption under his leadership.

He made the remarks on Monday during an introductory meeting with officials and employees at the Zila Parishad conference room, where he outlined his priorities for the institution.

Addressing the staff, Shamim urged them to perform their duties with honesty and dedication, stressing that serving the public would remain the council’s foremost responsibility.

The administrator officially assumed office at the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Sunday.

Drawing on nearly 37 years of political experience, Shamim said he intends to use that background to strengthen the district council’s role in serving people across Chattogram.

“There was a culture of corruption in many institutions in the past. We want to move beyond that and build an administration based on integrity and accountability,” he said. “I will not tolerate any irregularities or corruption in carrying out official responsibilities.”

He also pledged to stand by residents across the district and work towards resolving their problems through effective public service.

Calling for cooperation from officials and employees, Shamim acknowledged their experience and said he hoped to build a collaborative working environment where staff could communicate openly about challenges and responsibilities.

Referring to the council’s limited financial resources, the administrator said efforts would be made to secure higher government allocations to accelerate development projects in Chattogram. He added that discussions would be held with the relevant ministers, while coordination with elected public representatives would be strengthened to implement development initiatives in line with public expectations.

Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Joint Convener Yasin Chowdhury Liton, along with leaders from different tiers of the party, was also present.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Chowdhury Rowshan Islam, Executive Officer Khandaker Ekhtekhar Uddin Arafat, Acting Assistant Engineer Md. S. M. Khaled Uddin Zaman, Administrative Officer Md. Anis Uddin Bhuiyan, and other officials and employees of the Chattogram Zila Parishad.
