Dr. Shahadat Hossain Inspects Dewanbazar Building, Prioritizes Public Safety

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has ordered the immediate demolition of a dangerously cracked building in the Rumghata area of Dewanbazar after personally inspecting the site.

The mayor visited the building following reports that significant structural cracks had developed, raising concerns over the safety of nearby residents and pedestrians.

During the inspection, he reviewed the condition of the structure alongside city engineers and officials, stressing that public safety remains the administration’s highest priority.

“A structurally unsafe building cannot be allowed to endanger people’s lives. Immediate action must be taken to remove the building and eliminate any potential risk of accidents,” the mayor said.

He instructed the relevant authorities to begin the demolition process without delay and ensure that all necessary safety measures are followed throughout the operation.

Mayor Shahadat also urged residents to avoid the surrounding area until the structure is safely removed. He called on citizens to cooperate with authorities and comply with safety instructions.

The mayor further directed Chattogram City Corporation officials, engineers and local administration representatives to coordinate closely in carrying out the emergency operation and preventing any possible loss of life or property.

The inspection was attended by officials from Chattogram City Corporation, engineering teams and representatives of the local administration.

Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the area until the demolition work is completed and the site is declared safe for the public.
