Relief distributed across multiple shelter centres

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has distributed relief materials among 700 flood-affected families staying at shelter centres and vulnerable communities across the city as heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging continue to disrupt normal life. The humanitarian initiative was carried out on the instructions of Police Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali, reaffirming CMP’s commitment to standing beside residents during emergencies.

CMP distributes relief to 700 flood-affected families in Chattogram

The relief campaign covered several shelter centres and flood-affected neighbourhoods under different police station jurisdictions in Chattogram. Essential relief items were distributed to families who had taken refuge after their homes were inundated by continuous rainfall and waterlogging.

According to CMP, the relief operation began on the evening of July 12. At around 8:15 pm, relief materials were distributed among 95 families staying at Firoz Shah Colony Government Primary School Shelter Centre under Akbar Shah Police Station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Md. Alamgir Hossain and Officer-in-Charge Md. Kamruzzaman were present during the programme.

Earlier at 8:00 pm, officials distributed relief among 184 families sheltered at Dr Shahid Maqbul Ahmed Government Primary School, adjacent to Chattogram Polytechnic Institute under Khulshi Police Station. The programme was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sohel Parvez, accompanied by Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque.

Later at around 7:45 pm, relief assistance reached eight families staying at Hossain Ahmed Chowdhury City Corporation School and College under Panchlaish Police Station. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sohel Parvez and Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Jahedul Islam supervised the distribution.

Relief distributed across shelter centres in Chattogram

The humanitarian operation continued on July 13 as CMP teams visited additional shelter centres across the city.

At 12:00 pm, relief materials were distributed among 13 families taking shelter at Hazipara Abdul Monayem High School under Bayezid Bostami Police Station. The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sohel Parvez and Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdul Karim.

At 12:45 pm, CMP officials distributed relief among 200 families staying at Shamsher Para Government Primary School, Uttar Mohra Government Primary School, and Kala Mia Pul Government Primary School under Chandgaon Police Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Md. Hasan Mostafa Swapan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Panchlaish Zone) Bidhan Abid, and Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Jasim Uddin attended the distribution programme and handed over relief materials to affected families.

Police officials supervise humanitarian relief operations

CMP said senior police officials remained present throughout the relief campaign to ensure that assistance reached people staying at shelter centres and those most affected by the ongoing flooding.

The relief materials were distributed under the direct guidance of Police Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali, reflecting the police force’s humanitarian role alongside its responsibility for maintaining law and order.

Officials also interacted with displaced residents, inquired about their immediate needs, and assured them of continued support during the ongoing monsoon emergency.

Flood-affected families receive emergency assistance in EPZ and Chandgaon

In another relief programme held at 12:00 pm on July 13, CMP distributed relief among 200 flood-affected families living in different areas under EPZ Police Station.

The assistance targeted vulnerable families facing hardship due to prolonged rainfall, waterlogging, and flooding that have affected daily life in several parts of Chattogram. The relief campaign formed part of CMP’s wider emergency response to minimise the suffering of affected residents.

CMP continues support for flood and waterlogging victims

Chattogram Metropolitan Police said it will continue humanitarian assistance for residents affected by heavy rainfall and waterlogging if the situation requires further intervention.

The force reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside local authorities to support flood-hit communities, ensure public safety, and provide emergency assistance to people staying in shelter centres across the city.

With continuous rainfall affecting many low-lying areas, CMP urged residents to remain cautious, follow official instructions, and seek shelter in designated centres whenever necessary. The relief campaign highlights the police force’s ongoing efforts to protect lives and support vulnerable communities during one of the city’s most challenging monsoon periods.
