The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) on Saturday launched ‘Amader Chattogram’, a one-stop mobile and web application aimed at bringing a wide range of civic services under a single digital platform as part of its smart city initiative.
Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain inaugurated the application at a ceremony held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Chattogram.
The project was financed through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), while the technology platform was developed by Vento Tech.
Speaking at the inauguration, the mayor described the application as a significant step toward building a technology-driven, transparent and accountable city administration.
He said the platform would allow residents to report civic issues, including damaged roads, waterlogging, mosquito infestation, waste accumulation, faulty streetlights and drainage problems, by uploading photographs along with their locations.
Users will also be able to monitor the progress of their complaints through a live tracking system, enabling greater transparency in service delivery.
According to the city corporation, the application will gradually integrate a range of public services, including holding tax information, trade licence services, emergency assistance and direct communication with the mayor’s office.
The platform also includes an officer dashboard, automated ticket management system and ward-based heat maps to help officials identify areas with recurring civic problems and respond more efficiently.
Mayor Shahadat said technology should bring government services closer to citizens rather than requiring residents to visit public offices for routine services.
He urged residents to download the application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and actively participate in keeping the city clean and liveable.
Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of CCC Mohammad Ashraful Amin said the application would also allow residents to submit development proposals, provide feedback on civic issues and participate in opinion polls.
He added that online applications for trade licences, holding tax services and various ward office certificates would be integrated into the platform in phases.
Information on city corporation officials, hospitals and other public services will also be added gradually, he said.
Ashraful Amin said the city corporation plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled cameras capable of automatically detecting issues such as unattended waste, waterlogging and other civic problems.
The system will generate reports and forward them to the relevant departments without requiring manual complaints, he said.
He also said CCC aims to bring most of its major citizen services online within the next two months.
Officials said the digital platform was developed without using funds from the city corporation’s own budget.
Instead, the entire project was implemented through the CSR funding of Eastern Bank PLC.
Among those present at the inauguration were Chattogram WASA Managing Director Engineer Selim Md Jane Alam, Chattogram Range DIG Md Moniruzzaman, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali, political leaders, senior government officials, technology experts and representatives of civil society.
