A cultural programme titled ‘Borshay Nazrul’ was held at the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy on Monday afternoon to celebrate Nazrul Year (2026–2027).

Organised by the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the event paid tribute to the literary and musical legacy of Bangladesh’s National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, highlighting his timeless works inspired by the monsoon and the beauty of Bengal.

In his welcome address, District Cultural Officer Syed Muhammad Ayaz Mabud spoke about Nazrul’s enduring contribution to Bengali literature and music, particularly his writings that vividly portray the monsoon season and the country’s natural landscape.

The programme, hosted by recitation artist Faruk Taher, opened with a rendition of a Nazrul song by Srijita Dey. Solo performances were later presented by Anandi Sen, while the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy Music Ensemble performed a group musical presentation.

The academy’s dance troupe also staged a group dance performance, adding colour to the cultural evening attended by artists, cultural enthusiasts and invited guests.

The event was organised as part of the year-long celebrations marking Nazrul Year (2026–2027), aimed at promoting the works and ideals of Kazi Nazrul Islam among audiences through music, dance and recitation.
