CMP Reaffirms Commitment to the Spirit of the July Movement

Chattogram, July 16 (CTG Mail): Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) paid solemn tribute to the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising on the occasion of July Martyrs’ Day 2026 by laying wreaths at the July Memorial in New Market area of the port city on Thursday.

CMP Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali led the tribute, placing a floral wreath at the memorial in honour of those who sacrificed their lives during the historic July movement.

The ceremony was attended by senior CMP officials, including Additional Commissioner (Administration and Finance) Wahidul Haque Chowdhury, Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Muhammad Faisal Ahmed, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Hosain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan (Additional DIG), Deputy Commissioner (South) Md Habibur Rahman Prang (recently promoted to Additional DIG), Deputy Commissioner (Traffic-South) Mohammad Liaquat Ali Khan, PSC, along with other senior officers.

During the programme, the police officials observed the occasion with due respect and paid homage to the martyrs, remembering their sacrifices and reaffirming their commitment to upholding the values and spirit of the July Mass Uprising.

The wreath-laying ceremony formed part of the nationwide observance of July Martyrs’ Day 2026, commemorating those who laid down their lives in the movement for democracy and justice.
