Tk 503.47 Crore Budget to Be Presented

After a gap of nearly three years, Chittagong University (CU) is set to hold its 36th Senate session on August 8, bringing back one of the institution’s highest policy-making forums.

The development was confirmed on Sunday by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Al-Forkan.

According to the vice-chancellor, the upcoming senate session will place the proposed revenue budget of Tk 503.47 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year before members for discussion and approval.

The senate will also review the revised revenue budget of Tk 489.99 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

“The 36th Senate session of Chittagong University will be held on August 8. During the meeting, the estimated revenue budget for FY2026-27 and the revised budget for FY2025-26 will be presented before the senate,” Prof Al-Forkan said.

The university last held a senate session on July 30, 2023.

The senate is considered one of the university’s highest decision-making bodies and is responsible for approving annual reports, financial statements and budgets, alongside making important policy decisions concerning academic and administrative affairs.

University officials believe the upcoming session will play a crucial role in shaping the institution’s financial and development priorities for the coming fiscal year.

The meeting is also expected to provide direction for future academic expansion, infrastructure development and overall institutional planning at one of Bangladesh’s largest public universities.
